Coaches work with with their clients who have ADHD or ADHD-like symptoms (Executive Dysfunction) to address specific needs and personal goals as identified by the client. A coach and the client work as a team to reach their goals, such as carrying out the practical activities of daily life in an organized, goal-oriented and timely fashion. Through this teamwork, an ADHD coach can help the client identify and adopt practical skills and initiate change in his or her daily life.
ADHD coaching is a practical intervention that specifically targets the client's concerns, which are usually the core impairments of ADHD. Coaches can also provide education regarding how the symptoms of ADHD impact daily life. ADHD coaches support clients by providing encouragement, feedback and practical guidance to manage specific challenges as well by supporting them and providing accountability to follow through and achieve their goals. The process of ADHD coaching assists clients to stay focused on their goals, identify and address problems while also learning to manage obstacles, address executive functions issues like time management, organization, and self-esteem in order to achieve the client's goals which usually will create a more satisfying, productive life.
